At
LOGOS Language Center we use the “total
immersion” method, which means that the
lessons are 100% in the Spanish Language from
the beginning. In this way you will be able to
relate words with concepts directly and not by
means of a translation. This will help you manage
the language in a more natural and fast way. You
will not have any need for translations deep in
your mind, and it will be easier for you to interpret
the messages and think in Spanish, with no dependence
on your native language.
With beginners, a great deal of materials that
will be of great help in this stage, are used.
Such materials are illustrations, mimics, drawings,
objects and simple samples that show the student’s
progress step by step in a natural way. The intermediate
and advanced students will also enjoy a great
variety of materials and activities that will
help them shape and improve their skills in the
Spanish Language and speak it fluently.
Our courses do not have any definite period of
time. We advance at your own pace and devote the
time you need for doing so.
The lessons are conversational and wholly participatory;
you will always have the opportunity to speak,
to ask, and to be corrected. Even though the focus
is conversational, we do not set aside aspects
of grammar. There are grammar capsules every day,
but we teach grammar in a practical way and apply
it to every day life situations. Each grammar
topic is practiced and applied in the conversation
broadly.
In addition, we take pride in the fact that our
lessons are completely varied, dynamic, creative,
and amusing; for this each one of our teachers
will lead you through a wide range of individual
and collective activities. We use all types of
supportive materials that will contribute to your
learning of the new language.
Our teachers have the skills to transmit confidence
in the students and encourage them to feel comfortable
in a familiar and quiet environment.
Thank
you for helping me so much to learn Spanish.
It was really beneficial. Also you all are
so friendly. I enjoyed my class a lot.

Materials:
You
do not need to pay more for the materials; they
are included within the total price. We do have
printed materials with grammar hints, vocabulary,
practices, etc. that will be handed in. Furthermore,
we make use of lots of supplementary books, readings
from magazines, newspapers, books, etc, with diverse
topics of your interest; we possess a great quantity
of illustrations and visual materials as well as
filing cards with verbs and activities for couples
and/or groups ( for interviews, discussions, role-games,
etc.). There is also a lot of material available
with varied activities and dynamics that are designed
to encourage conversation and discussion. We have
a lot of audio materials: dialogues, monologues,
songs, etc, with which we do amusing activities.
We also have videos about Costa Rica: dialogues,
documentaries and films. Anyhow all this material
will help you in the process of learning.

Group
sizes:
To guarantee you personal attention and homogeneity
in each group’s level, the groups are small:
from two to five students at the most, but the average
number per group ranges from 2 to 3 students.
Duration
of the courses:
You
Define the Timeframe. The duration of the courses
is only defined by you – you can study for
a single week or a whole year. For optimum results
we recommend at least 4 weeks of classes!
Courses are normally taught from Monday thru Friday.
A combination with tours is possible if you take
individual lessons or the if the whole group agrees.
When
do the courses begin?
You
can start each Monday, the whole year round –
no matter if you are an absolute beginner or an
advanced student. Just make sure to register SOON
– to keep quality at the highest level we
only take about 20 students for each week and often
we will be booked out many months in advance!!!
If
your flight is delayed or for any reason you cannot
come on Monday, it is possible for you to start
lessons on Tuesday.
Placement
test:
It is possible for you to have an oral interview
the first day of classes. From it we can determine
your level of knowledge and communication skills
in Spanish. In this way we might be able to place
you in a group for your level. You will get to know
about the topics you need to learn, which ones you
are strong in, and those you need to reinforce or
practice. This test is under the evaluation scale
of ACTFL ( American Council for the Teaching of
Foreign Languages). You do not have to pay any additional
fee for this test.
